Music is the heartbeat of Austin

You've probably heard that one of Austin's claims to fame is being the Live Music Capital of the World.  While there are a lot of different stories about where the name originated, one thing is certain -- with hundreds of live music venues to choose from you can hear a variety of music just about any time of day.  From indie to country to electric blues and jazz, Austin has a musical experience for every taste.  

As home to some of the largest music events and festivals in the world, like South by Southwest (SXSW) and Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL), Austin attracts thousands of visitors each year.  Even if you can't join us in Austin for a live act, you can still experience the vibrant sound of the city.  We've put together a Spotify playlist sampling Austin musicians current and past, popular and less known that covers the gamut from folk, country, hip hop, rock, blues, indie, and beyond. Obviously there are more fabulous musicians than this sample covers, but it's a start!
